My Funny Valentine--Artistic Outpost

Today I decided to post my Artistic Outpost Valentine card.  I couldn't get the song My Funny Valentine out of my head this whole Valentine season so I decided to use the happy clown from Send in the Clowns and make a really fun Valentine. They don't all have to be mushy gushy now do they?

The funny clown from Artistic Outpost's Send in the Clowns set was the first stamp that came to mind when I couldn't get that song out of my head.

The embossed hearts and red quikutz label added some texture to the design.

The flower was created using the MS Hydreanga punches and centered on a  fancy scroll tag in white that was mounted on red cs highlighted with white gel pen faux paper piercing.

The sentiment was computer generated and then the ends were punched with the MS heart border punch.

3 heart decals on the clown suit and red hearts scattered randomly on the white cs and this happy Funny Valentine is ready to share!

Summer Fun

Summer Fun was created as a reminder to young and old alike how much fun the small town carnivals are. When you are raised in a small rural community a Carnival in town is just as exciting as a Circus.

Send in the Clowns from Artistic Outpost was the perfect choice to use for my Summer Fun card. I colored the carnival image and sentiment with copic markers. I wanted to keep the color scheme bright and happy so I chose this fun polka dot and orange plaid dp.

I just happen to have lots of bright colored buttons in my button stash and thought they would add a nice touch. The scrabble tiles are something new that I just acquired. I have been looking high and low at thrift shops and good will stores but couldn't find any tiles so I finally went on e-bay.

I knew that in order to spell words I would need more than one set so I went with groups of 4oo or more. I set my limit including shipping and spent one whole Sunday bidding on 3 different auctions before I finally won a 511 tile group. The seller had a 100% rating and I know why. I paid with pay-pal the same night and my tiles were here on Wednesday. Awesome.

I spent the morning on Thursday sorting the tiles by letter. Went and bought a nuts and bolts drawer chest at Wally World to hold them. Everything went great until I had them all in their little drawers and realized that I had multiples(at least 4) of each letter except for V. I didn't have one single V. I guess the only word I can't spell out is LOVE but I will figure something out. I think the V's in my scrabble game are destined to become card embellishments :)

Thanks for stopping by, Tomorrow I have a card that I made for a challenge on StampTV. I made a card without using any copic markers, I know... what's up with that? I used one of my past favorite techniques of watercolor to create the card. I think you will be surprised!

My two projects for tonight both have a Postal theme, post cards and stamps. Without further adeau, "Send in the Clowns".

I used the two small stamps from the "free" collage sheet and trimmed the edges with my stamp decorative edge scissors. I stamped the clown, the row of dots, and CLOWNS from Send in the Clowns to create the larger stamp image. I free-handed the 5 cent to match the price sign on the smaller stamps. I mounted the stamps on black cs so that you could see the perforated edging. I used a bar code stamp from a retired SU set. I have been kind of on a kick to stagger my matts, I think it adds a little more interest without distracting attention from the focal point which I want to be the main image.

I used the tiger image from the "free" collage sheet for the post card project as well. I have a template for the post card which I just print off onto cardstock. I mounted the postcards on black cs and added two circus tickets and this project is ready to be added to a 12X12 scrapbook page. The project measures 7X11.

Here are my Circus Party creations:

It's a perfect set to create your own Birthday Party package. I used the new Send in the Clowns stamp plate to create the stand up clown. I just cut a small slit between his shoes and cut a small strip of black cardstock to place in the slot and you can have a whole table of happy clowns in no time.

The invitation is very simple to make from one sheet of 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock. I created a template that is available on the projects page of Artistic Outpost soon.

I used another colored clown for the gift bag tag and tied it onto the twist tie. I purchased the striped gift bags at Hobby Lobby.

The straw cover is a clown face that I left tabs at the top and bottom when I cut it out so that I could use my paper punch to make a hole to fit the straw into.

I purchased the ticket holder box and altered it by adding an elephant standing on a ball on each side.

The possibilities are endless. You can make your own hats or purchase red ones and add a clown or elephant to each.

Makes me wish my kids were still little.

Here is my first project using the Send in the Clown stamp plate:

This is a mini poster that I created using the darling chubby clown image. I drew in the center ring free-hand and stamped the unicycle. I used the dot border to create the audience by overstamping the dots in a row.

I masked the space around the clown and used my copic airbrush to create the darkened arena. I then masked just the clown and airbrushed my lightest yellow and my lightest grey to create the illusion of a spotlight. The white dots in the crowd are supposed to look like camera flashes going off.
