Sassy Cheryl's 100th Challenge--Time to Celebrate!!!

WooHoo today marks the 100th Sassy Cheryl's Challenge and let me tell you they have been so much fun. I have been on the DT since day one and it has been a blast.  So lets Celebrate!!! Jeni is the hostess this week and the Challenge is to use a die cut and add Sparkle to your project.  Here is my card using  Lucy Lou's Valentine Heart:

Lucy Lou was so much fun to color with copic markers and then sponged with distress ink.  The main image was layered over a cute layer of plaid dp which was masked with a Tim Holtz clock and airbrushed in pink to represent timeless love.
A band or red bakers twine was wrapped around the bottom and tied into a bow.  The hearts are from the MS heart border used for the inside border decor and they were covered with glossy accents for the shiny portion of my card.
The silver corner with the red gem is the perfect touch of fanciness for this Valentine card.
Because this card is going to be given to one of the winners who will win all of the DT members cards I actually finished the inside of the card. Yea I know, what's up with that LOL, like I will give it away, Oh wait, I am :).... Here is a pix of the inside:
this is the top of the inside of the card.

I thought the little doilie is cute to write your sentiment on the red card base and the  heart border with the red bakers twine tied into a bow adds just a touch of continuity to the front of the card.

Here is the card all together, just to prove I really did it LOL:

Photo Suitcase--What you say?!? Look what I made

I thought the little suitcase that my Sassy cyber friend Barbara, made a few months ago was just beautiful and I have hunted everywhere for the die. Well it turns out it is retired, or at least it is now LOL. so I bought it on ebay last week and it is a die made for the Big Shot which I don't have, and no I am not buying.    I used my cuttlebug and since the die is in two separate sections it works that I can use my cuttle bug plates and build them up with cardboard to make it work.  Hey, you sometimes have to do what you have to do!!!  Anywhoo here is what I created:

I added a trio of handmade roses which I airbrushed to match the dp which is embossed and a band of lace with  a strip of pearls.

I was thinking what would you put in this little suitcase. You could put some candy,  a gift card but that I had a real thought, it only hurt a little,  Wouldn't this be a cute way to give a group of small photos as a gift to a grandparent or  friend or to display those Senior pictures  you didn't order?  Here is what I came up with as a sample using some of my son's wedding pictures from his wedding last summer.

What I like even more than how cute this is, is the fact that you don't just have another picture frame sitting around but a cute decorative suitcase that will sit on a shelf or coffee table and hold up to 20 pictures depending on the size.  I only printed photos on one side of the paper, but if you were really smart you could do both sides.

I just thought this was so fun and different I couldn't wait to share it.  I am sure I am not the first one to think of this but I have't seen it before, but I don't get out much LOL.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day.

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--My Favorite Things!!!

I loved this challenge for Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge so,  huge thank you to Dorcas, who is the hostess this week.  Here is the card I created using Adele :

My favorite things when creating cards or altered items, are vintage touches,  and this card has most of my favorites LOL.  The darling image,  Adele, is colored with copic markers and sponged with distress ink.
The base layer was stamped with  my favorite cracked paint texture stamp, an antique cloth doilie in the upper left corner and a string or faux pearls.  A band of vintage rose lace purchased at an antique store in Kansas and three ivory roses in the lower left corner and one in the upper right add the finishing touches.
So many of Mo's images can be used for the vintage touches that are popular right now just by the distressing and embellishments you choose.  Have a blast.  I always seem to migrate back to my roots of vintage when I am feeling my mojo gone, or needing a jump start, LOL.
Be sure to stop by the Challenge blog and check out the rest of the creations and see what the other DT members favorite things are, I can't wait to see.
I see that Mo has been busy creating new images again so be sure to stop by the store and  don't forgot that you have even more chances to win in the challenge as Mo is giving a gift certificate for every 25 entries so even more chances to win.  All you have to do is follow the challenge rules and use a Mo image...doesn't get any easier than that.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day!!!

Did you know? I used to be a Horse Trainer? Stables fits perfect!!!

Little known facts on this blog about me LOL. I used to train Thoroughbreds at the track and when Jak offered this image from Just Inklined,  called Stables , I first thought of using one of the kids pictures to showcase it, and then thought it would be fun to use  a photo of me with one of my winning mares. The Old Grey mare she Ain't what she used to be   ( you  pick).,. LOL:

The image was colored with copic markers and I tried to give the feel of  barn planks and the beauty of a well oiled leather saddle and the velvety black of the helmet.  Not exactly what you would use in the Horse racing industry but it was all a part of our barn as the kids rode and the exercise riders came to work the runners :).  We had a gallop track on the farm.
The dp behind the photo is a darling red and white polka dot from my stash and I love the red and white polka dot ribbon tied in a knot bow. The 5 red dots were added to the white layer to add a splash of color to the crackled finish.
I added a pair of hand made red roses with leaves as the finishing touch to the Sadle image and my win picture as a memory I may hang for a bit for a bit of nostalgia.
Be sure to check out the new images at www.justinklined.com as there were more new ones added this week. As always something for everyone.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my nostalgic moment with me :)

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge--Brown and Lt. Blue

Hello Sassy Friends. It's Tuesday and that means it is time for another Sassy Cheryl's Challenge and our hostess this week, Ms Jeni, has chosen Brown and lt. Blue.  What fun, here is what I came up with:

In real life the polka dots on the dp are the same color as the top of the scale, sometimes flash photography is just fickle :(.   The image is such a fun Sassy image for after the New Year with all the weight conscious dieters, me included, called Sassy Sally's Weigh In.

The image was colored with copics and sponged with distressed ink, I could just copy and paste that statement in, I think you all know my style by now LOL.  I added a cute brown and white checked ribbon with a double bow adorned with a blue star button. A silver corner  medallion with a blue gel dot.  3 brown buttons and a Get Out of Jail ticket.

Be sure to check out the Blue and Brown cards created by the rest of the DT and I am pretty sure Sassy Cheryl will have a new image in the store so check it out, and play along with the challenge for a chance to win a 5 dollar gift certificate.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Creative Sassy Day!!!

Just Inklined Candy Box-Valentines Day Card

Just Inklined has some beautiful Valentine images old and new and for my post today I chose a new image called Chocolate box

I really loved this image because of the details of the chocolates in the box, the rose and the bow.  Loved coloring with copics and the outside edge was sponged with distress ink.  Mounted on red cs and the heart topped hat pin was attached with bakers twine wound multiple times around the right side left for this purpose.  I slid a ticket under the hat pin for the sentiment, they are so much fun.
The pink plaid dp was a free download from Jak Heath available here.  Jak always has wonderful dp she creates for you to use for free, just follow her copywrite rules and use it for your own creations.
I added a few hand made pink roses, swirles, a band of pearl covered lace at the bottom and my beautiful Valentines card is ready to give that Special Someone.
Be sure to check out the rest of the new images Just Inklined has in the Store right now, as always there is something for everyone.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day.

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--Stitch it Up!!

Are you ready for a fun Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge?  Our super talented hostess, my sweet friend Pat, has chosen the theme-- Stitching.  Here is what I created:

To be honest, I think this would have been perfect for last week's CAS card. LOL  But I thought this image, called Queen of Hearts would be fun for the Stitching challenge as I had lots of room to sew.
The image was colored with copic markers and then I used a zip zag stitch to sew the gold layer to the red base.  I sewed with a straight stitch and added a zig zag single stitch every once in a while for a little added interest. :)  I have my little craft sewing machine right under my desk and just have to lift it up to use it, should do it more often. :)
I kept the embelllishments to a minimum only adding a band of red gingham ribbon and a bow, and my favorite, a fan of tiny playing cards, which were from a deck of cards given to me by one of my daughters. Aren't they cute!!!
Be sure to stop by the Challenge blog and check out the rest of the DT cards and drop by the Digital Pencil Store and check out the darling new Valentine kids Mo has created.  Love em.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful creative day.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge--Chase Away Winter with Color!!!

Are you ready for another fun Sassy Cheryl's Challenge?  Our super talented hostess, Dawn, has chosen the theme: Something Bright and cheery to chase away Winter Grey!!! Sounds like fun to me.  Here is what I created:

I chose this fun image called Winter Birds in the Trees but gave it a brighter colorful feel.  I colored the image with copic markers and sponged the outside with distressed ink.  The layers were  mounted on coordinating cs and angled for interest, I don't like straight lines.
The dp is from my stash and I used a negative edge from a scalloped die cut as the lower green border under the beautiful Tim Holtz elasticized organdy ribbon placed at the bottom of the card and adorned with a hat pin with colorful gems and an organdy bow.

I airbrushed 3 roses before I rolled them to match the dp I had chosen and then when I rolled them they matched the dp all the way through, great way to have a bunch or white roses cut out and then you can just air brush them to match your project as you make the card.  It never fails how many roses I have made up they are never just the right color LOL,  So this works great for me.
A simple Hi sentiment and my bright and cheery card to beat the winter grey is complete.  Wow, for once I think I followed the Challenge Criteria....You can teach an old dog new tricks !!!!

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT cards and see what beautiful cards they have to share with you.  I am sure Sassy Cheryl will have a new image or two for you as well, Aren't you loving the new characters and their Sassy faces!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day.

Mo's Digital Pencil--Clean and Simple

I am going to be really honest and admit that I kind of struggle with this challenge.  I don't really add a lot of embellishments but I don't really leave my card too plain either, but here what I came up with for the Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge, Clean and Simple Challenge by our fantabulous hostess Pat:
I think I do clean and simple about as well as Pat does, let's see.

The image is Dwarf 1 from the Snow White collection and unfortunately it is not in the store right now.  I have sent Mo an email so hopefully by the time you read this it will be :).  When it is I will make it a hyperlink.  I colored it with copic markers and sponged the outer edge with broken china distress ink.  I added a couple of round tab SU punches with blue gems glued on and created some swirls with I-Rock gems.  Here is a close up of the image colors and coloring:

The envelope base was cut with my cricut and I used some coordinating cs under the image accentuate the image but still keep with the Clean and Simple theme.  I added a tassle of Bakers Twine in the envelope tie and my Clean and Maybe Simple card is complete.
I think the swirls may have taken this slightly out of the clean and simple category but it doesn't have too many layers or too many embellishments so it should still be okay...that's my story and I'm sticking too it!!!
Be sure to check out the DT cards on  the Challenge site and see what they have created for you.  Be sure to check out what Mo has new in the store too as you never know when there will be new images for you, there is a new one right now called Adele...

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge --Sketch plus +

Good Morning Sassies, are you ready for a new Sassy Cheryl's Challenge...it is Tuesday!!! The hostess this week is the super talented Dawn who always chooses the funnest  (made up word, don't be correcting my grammar LOL ) challenges, and for this one she gave us a sketch and we have to add snow.  Here is the sketch and what I created:
Here is Lucy Lou and Her Bear Paddy:
Lucy Lou is getting ready for the new snow to fall, see the snow flakes starting to fall?  I used a dotted cuttlebug embossing folder I actually got from Judy, for the card, thought it looked like snow falling. The dp I used for the rest of the card is from my stash.
The shiny satin ribbon adds a bright touch to the lower section of the card, the bow is tied in a double loop and with a little white swirl just the right touch.
In keeping with my usual stretching the challenge rules, almost to the breaking point, I had to computer generate a sentiment to incorporate the Snow Theme into the card and I think I did it pretty well.  Lucy Lou really did tell me, "  Let it Snow...I Have my Fur Coat"   It has been so warm here that a teddy bear is all the coat you would have needed today as it was almost 60...in January.... in Nebraska....
Be sure you stop by the Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the DT creations and then run over to the store and see the new creations Sassy Cheryl's has created a new snowman and a new weight conscious Sassy Sally, gonna have to get that one LOL.

Have a great day and I hope you have time to do something creative.

Just Inklined Beautiful Birds

I know I have mentioned in the past that Just Inklined has a wide variety of images, something for everyone...flowers, wrinklies, the bumgardners LOL but, they also have wonderful animals and birds.  Birds are so wonderful for so many different occassions and card giving.  I have created this pretty  (IMO) card using the wonderful Feed the Birds image.:

Aren't these robins just beautiful.  They are so much fun to color.  I decided to keep the dp and layout fairly simple to show the beauty of the image.  The image was cut out with a scalloped rectangle spellbinder die a contrasting green die cut from the next larger die.
The sentiment die was cut from a different spellbinder die and the oval sentiment die was one of the smaller die's from the set but I cut the swirley ends to have just the white oval onto which I stamped the sentiment.
A pretty plaid bow added just the right amount of color along with the hat pin onto which I strung some pretty colored gems.

Be sure to check out the Justinklined, com website for all the wonderful images that are just perfect for every card you need to create.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to drop by the Just Inklined Blog to see what the Design Team gals have been creating to show you!!!

Have a great week and take some time to create something beautiful.

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--Anything Goes!!!

Are you ready for the first Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge of 2012??? The Theme is Anything Goes....I chose this adorable image that I have wanted to color for awhile, but the holidays took over with other images, so here is Georgia:

For some reason I could not get a clear picture of Georgia because I think my camera was focusing in on the gems I placed on the ribbons swirls, sorry about that.

Georgia was colored with copic markers and I tried to make her look like a little gypsy child as I believe that is her legacy and she seems to love the whimsical lifestyle and music of the tamborine.

I added a few handmade roses with a few punched sprigs of color.  The rick rack border is a die cut and I cut two contrasting colors and mounted a crimped seam binding ribbon in the upper left corner,.    The main image was cut from a spellbinder scalloped die cut and airbrushed while still in the die.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT creations and see what they have created for you.  I am ready to start the New Year with new creations and after having all of my family home for Christmas last week I am ready to get back to my normal routine.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day!!!

Happy New Year Year!!! and a new Sassy Cheryl's Challenge

I am so happy to be back blogging after having spent a wonderful two weeks getting ready for my family Christmas with my entire family!!! Are you ready for a new Sassy Cheryl's Challenge!!! Our Hostess is sweet, talented Ann and her theme is, New Beginnings, perfect for a New Year!!! I chose Let's Party:

This cute Sassy sweetie was colored with copics and then the parts I wanted sparkly were highlighted with Atyou glitter pens in clear, to just add the sparkle to the hat, ruffle and streamers.
I added a green banner and some buttons to help give the celebration feel to this party card.  In the lower right corner I added a yellow felt flower cut with my cricut.  Yep you can cut felt with a cricut if you use the heat and Bond iron on stabilizer so you can adhere it to the mat. I added a large orange wooden button from Michaels and tied it with some Baker's twine.
I added an orange checked ribbon and bow and my New Year's New Beginnings card is ready to begin the 2012 Year right!!!   I don't remember the last time I didn't color an image for two weeks, talk about copic withdrawal LOL.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT cards on the Challenge site and I am sure that Sassy Cheryl has some new images for us if she is feeling better. She has been a little under the weather this past week.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day!!!
