Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--The Fabric of our Lives

The Challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge hosted by Dorcas is to add fabric...easy you say...well kinda LOL.  Here is my card...note no Christmas card...already tired or them :)

I chose this adorable image called, Make a Wish, and colored her in pinks and chose pink cs to show her off.  The image was colored with copic markers and cut out with a spellbinder die and airbrushed while still in the die.
I added two doiles behind the image to set it off against the pink cs.  I added 3 pearls in each upper corner.
To make my fabric flower I used my cricut and that requires the Heat and bond which you iron onto the fabric you want to cut, and then just cut out like you would paper.  Pretty cool huh.  I cut the pink cotton gingham in 2 inch and 1 and a half inch flowers and added a gold rimmed pearl to finish my double band of  pink gingham ribbon.
Have I mentioned I love my toys :)

Baby Girl Brag Book

Well, I finished my sample brag books.  Thought I would give you a peek and see what you thought.  Here is the Baby Girl Brag Book:

I used my cricut to cut the clothes line of SVG images I purchased. The sweet is from a cricut cartridge and the paper roses I made.  Aren't the tiny clothes pins too cute!!!  I think the cover turned out cute!

The photo mount on the left page you would just add the photo on top but the one on the right is a double mount where you would add the photo between two layers from the top, which is hard to see in the photo.  The rounded top is where you would slide the photo in by gently opening it to slide the photo in and the style accommodates a rectagle photo.

The final spread could be used for an oval photo which you would have to cut and then the one on the right you could mount a rectangle photo and have a nice swirley border and pretty pink double flower.

Hobby Lobby had pink Cinch binding rings which I loved, they are a little bigger than I would have thought to buy originally but I think they are fine.  I will tie ribbon on the binding rings to finish it and it will be done.

Venturing into a new Rhelm--Digital Scrapbooking

I have kind of discovered digital scrapbooking but use it in a different sort of way. I plan to use it to make Memory books and Virtual Cards as well as the digital scrapbooking.  Here are a couple of projects I have worked on this week-end.

I am going to incorporate my Cricut to make lettering to go with the software to add a different dimension to the standard digital scrapbooking version so we will see how these gifts are received LOL.  Envision a palm tree and hula girl on this page, I haven't gotten them cut out yet :)

The first page is an easy Honeymooon page I made for my son and his new bride who got married in August and honeymooned in Hawaii:

I also worked on a Christmas card using some free or kits available from the download site, there are some awesome kits available and even if they are not free they are very reasonably priced.   What do you think:

I am working on a mini album that is coming together nicely, show you that in a few days, it is going to take a little bit of time, as it will require a lot of embellishments and assembly, as it is 5 pages front and back. 

I forgot to mention the software I used was My Memories Digital Scrapbook Software.

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--Favorite Holiday!!!

Yippee, time for another Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge and a fun one again.  I get to choose another fun character for my Favorite Holiday which is the next one coming up, Halloween.  I chose, Come Hither, just because I thought he would be so fun to create a double spread scrapbook page, not usually my thing but thought it would be fun to do something a little different....hey it happens LOL.

If you hadn't guessed this is pretty big, actually 8.5 X 11  since I was planning to add it to a 12X12 page for a double spread with kids Halloween pix on the other side...sounds like I really do this huh.  I don't make too many scrapbook pages but I have made a few LOL. I leave that to my girls, they are awesome.

Come Hither was colored with copic markers and the lining of his cape was highlighted with red Atyou spica glitter pen.  I added spiders, bats and the haunted mansion in the lower right corner with its resident ghost.

The huge gold key is a new dollar bin find from Michaels last week and it is metal.  The black swirley frame is a new cricut frames cartridge I just love since none of my cuttlebug dies are big enough to back my images. You just measure the height of the pix and wallah, easy peasy.  The red roses in the upper right are being invaded by spiders as well, so this Halloween card is complete.

Making Cricut Rolled Flowers--Yep I am playing!!!!

Hi everybody.  I have been busy cleaning my stamp area tonight and that brought about the need...to make some paper flowers....I have tons, literally, of paper scraps to use and since I love the look of rolled flowers I decided to make some tonight.  Here is what I am making, a work in progress:

I looked online and found some free SVG files to use with my Cricut Expression machine and the ones I liked the most were created by Cheryl First.  Thank you so much Cheryl for doing all the hard work for me and allowing me to just do the fun part :).

I downloaded her file and put it into my Sure Cuts a Lot program and at the size she had it, which is the red one above, I could place 6 flowers on a 12X 12 sheet.  They end up being about an inch tall and inch and a half across.  Great for boxes or larger projects.  That being said and since I usually make cards I needed smaller flowers. so I decided to size them to 12 to a sheet.  12 to a sheet are the orange/rust double sided flowers which end up being about 3/4  inches tall  and about an inch across.  I will use this size some so I saved the sheet to my folder so I wouldn't have to create the sheet again.

When I created the smallest flower sheet I made them about an inch and a half square and placed them as close as I could and placed 35 on the 12X12 sheet.  I just hook up my USB cord and click the cut and the Cricut cuts my file.  It is really pretty awesome.

Assembling the flowers is really simple. I use the tweezers you see in the photo and roll the flower starting from the open outside edge and basically twirl the flower around the tweezers until I reach the center which ends up being the flower base.  I use Aileens Clear Gel Tacky Glue and cover the coils, which have been gently uncurled from the tweezers and allowed to loosen a little until you get the size flower you want, and then I gently hold the flower from the top with my thumb and forefinger from the bottom to allow the glue to set for a few minutes,  Then I set them aside and move to the next flower. 

The reason I did the smaller ones in white was so I could spray them with copics to match any color I wanted to match and could have them made ahead.....the old mind is always thinking of time saving.  I do like the multi colored flowers too so you will see both.

Easter Treat Milk Cartons--Cricut design

I know that I have really liked the milk carton candy containers that I have seen for the past year or so but just couldn't justify the cost of the Sizzix die...I wanted to be able to make different sizes.  Here is my project:

These were so simple to make.  I used a free milk carton SVG file which is for the Sure Cuts a Lot software and cut with the Cricut Expression. The green milk carton on the left is the original size of the template and the one on the right is the one I resized to be a better size for me to give to my grandkides as Easter Treat boxes. 

The little birdie on the front of the purple  milk carton is a Quickutz die called, what else bird.  I thought the multi colored rick rack was so cute for this little birdie and it only needed a button and butterfly to be complete.  Don't want to get too fancy, after all they are for kids who will not save them LOL. 

The green larger carton was decorated with a band of Easter dp and a top and bottom band of pink check ribbon.  A sticker saying Happy Easter, given to me by my daugher Michelle several years ago, matched the design elements and was just the right size for the carton.

Some Cricut Creations!!! I had some playtime :)

Hi everybody, how is your week-end going.  Last week I spent a little time playing with some new cricut cartridges I have and making some Valentine projects.

First is a little gift box created with a free box MTC file available in the User Forum on MTC and the Wedding and Mother's Day Flower Bouquet cartridges.  I couple of hearts and a punk ribbon embossed with hearts and this quick project is ready to fill with candy and give to someone special:

Next I have two Hello Kitty Valentines using the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge. I have made these for my 3 year old granddaughters who are both crazy about anything Hello Kitty right now.  Think they will like them?:

 

I really think they turned out cute, but it is a strange concept to me to not have colored anything on the card I didn't think the 3 year olds would appreciate that grandma has spent a lot of time coloring a special image for them, but I know they will carry these around for days.

I hope you all have a great rest of your week-end, mine is over, I work on Sunday nights and so will be going to work in a little bit.

Cheryl's grandmother passed away this morning.  Cheryl was very close to Grandma Reba and will miss her terribly, but Grandma was ready to go, and Cheryl has all the Love and Memories to cherish, but it is still a very hard time for Cheryl and her family.

The First Ever Design D.I.V.A'S Blog Hop--Oldie but Goodie

Welcome to the first ever Design D.I.V.A'S Blog Hop. If you are arriving here from Sharon Harnist blog you are in the right spot.  The theme of the Blog Hop was to use something you haven't used in at least 6 months.  I decided to go with a Target Valentines mail box I got a couple of years ago and had not decorated.  Here is the mailbox I created:

The little mail box is pink and both ends are completely removable.  I cut the dp for my mailbox using my cricut and a free SVG file from here.  I did modify the MTC file as I wanted to use this one direction paper and wanted both ends to be going the same direction.  The LOVE stamp was cut with the cricut and mounted on the flag.
I used my ATG gun to mount the dp and covered the edges with pearl covered lace ribbon.  The hearts were cut with my cricut. 
The pearl and rose designs on the sides were purchased at Archivers.
I think it really turned out pretty and it is time to head over to one of my bestest  friends, the Super Mega Talented, Theresa Momber.  I know Theresa will have something to knock your socks off.

I just thought it would be fun to make something really pretty for Valentines Day.

Getting some Christmas gifts made!!!

Hi everybody, sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days because I strained my back on Thursday, yeah Happy 'Birthday to me!!!, and my mobility is limited.  I was able to sit which is unusual for a back strain so was able to work on some Christmas gifts. 

My Son is engaged to a sweet girl and since they needed an address book I decided I would make her one and while I was at it I made a Post it Note holder and still need to cover the pencil holder but you will get the idea of what the theme is.  Here is what I created for Mindy:

I bought an address insert with tabs from Office Depot and made a chipboard cover which I covered with Tim Holtz dp.  A lot of hte elements were die cuts using my cuttlebug but the bird dages and pendent are cut with my cricut.  I used scrabble times for the Address words and because the insert was pre punched I used my crop a dile to punch the holes in the cover. As much as I wanted to use my bind it all, it just wasn't working so the address has binder rings so pages can be added if necessary.  The Post it note holder is 4X4 and I did use a lot of the same elements as the address book and the post it note pad can be easily changed out when it is empty.,  Think she will like it?   

My second Christmas gift that I have to show you is for my two 3 year old granddaughters.  These are Cling Vinyl paper dolls.  I am still going to make the magnetic ones as well but I think these are cute too.  What do you think?

I completed my page layout in Design Studio and created one doll and two different sets of clothes with each cut,  Don't you think they turned out cute.  I am still going to put little rosey cheeks on the girls but other than that they are ready to play with.
I used the back from the cut out vinyl as it does not cut all the way through as the backing for my accessories so it will stick.  Not sure what I am going to do for a play surface yet but am thinking of a dry erase board? 

Well, I need to get busy and finish some more projects just wanted to show you what I had been up to.
