Artful Sentiments Weekly Copic Challenge #17

Well, it is Saturday and that means Kimm BT's Artful Sentiiments Copic Challenge for this week.

I had a little trouble with this one, I am not really a pink person as a main color. I guess that is why they call them challenges :) The challenge was to use R20, R83, RV00 and another pink of your choice, Okay, I had R20 R32 and BV00 and that was as close as I could get. I have a Copic Color Chart so the colors aren't as far off as the numbers may appear.

Here is the card that I came up with:

I used My Cuppa Joe stamp set from GinaK Designs, designed by Rupa Shevde, that I just love.

I made this a long card that would fit in a business size envelope. This is a size that I really like but very seldom do. Maybe I was just too lazy to cut my stamped images apart but we'll go with the first reason :)

I colored the cups using the copic gradiant technique. I used the two pinks and the lavendar all on each cup. I then mounted the cup panel on lavender cs, punched a border along top and bottom of a hot pink piece of cs and placed it on an angle on the pink checked dp that was sponged with Tim Holtz worn lipstick distress ink and dusty concorde distress ink.

I don't use my large spot eyelets very often but they are so easy to set with the crop-o-dile so I decided to get carried away with them. The sentiment was punched out with the SU scalloped circle punch and after tying a ribbon under the main panel, my card was complete.

I used all the colors, yeah me! Check out the other DT girls blogs( their blogs are listed on my sidebar) and see what they came up with for today, I know you will like what you see, they are a very talented bunch. There is a new DT Member, welcome Shelley that I still need to add to my DT blog list, sorry Shelley :)

Have a great day. I am off to Bailey's 2nd Birthday party at my daughter's house and then I will go to work tonight.

See you Sunday

StampTV Challenge Card

Here is the card that I made for the Technique Challenge on StampTV. This week Gina showed us how to make the dp with using the shaving cream technique. This is such a fun technique and the outcome is a little different on each piece of paper.

I cut 4 - 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 pieces of white cardstock to place on my shaving cream mixture. For this piece I used Cool Carribean, Kiwi Kiss, and Pretty Pink SU reinkers. I cut my last piece of Cool Carribean to use as the base of this card.

I used my copic markers to color the images from My Cuppa Joe stamp set from GinaK Designs . I sponged around the edge with Tim Holtz Broken China Distress ink and tied a pink ribbon that I had dyed a while back. I love using my SU reinkers to make my custom color ribbons that match the SU cardstock. I don't think that I ever use my reinkers to ink a stamp pad :)

I had so much fun stamping and coloring this past week-end and had time to create 3 StampTV challenge cards and actually got them done before the deadline. Deadlines got a little easier to attain since I got my new laptop computer.

When I got my tax refund I decided that I could use it to buy the stamps that I had been wanting but hadn't had the extra money for, but I decided that since Jim and I need to use the computer at the same time that it would be more beneficial and keep peace in the family if I got a laptop with internet service so we could both work at the same time. It has been a wonderful investment, especially in my temperment. The old saying is true, "If mama isn't happy, nobody is happy :).

Now I don't have to wait until well past midnight most nights to post to my blog or check my email.

I am going to say good night for now. See you tomorrow.

I Love You Duck and Thanks a Latte!

I made this card some time ago but just realized that I had never posted it on my blog. It was created using the My Cuppa Joe stamp set by Asela Hopkins, sold at GinaK Designs. Very simple concept on the card. I used copic markers for the coffee mug and craft snow for the froth. It was fun playing with snow with a toothpick to keep in in the lines where I wanted it :).
The scalloped punch is Stampin Up and the You're Cool Beans circle stamp is in the My Cuppa Joe set as well. There are lot of cool coffee related cups, coffee bean bag, sentiments for lots of different occassions.

Oh, by the way, GinaK Designs is having a Release Party on Thursday at SCS forum. Sneak Peaks start tomorrow

Checkout this little Duck with Flowers,
This little Duck with Flower is from Dog Gone Stamps and is just so sweet and innocent. It was colored with copic markers and cut out the image square at an angle.

I stitched along the edges of the main image and also made a decorative outline border basically for added interest without adding any other embellishments, keeping it a more masculine feel.

Have you noticed that I have been on kind of a masculine card kick for the past couple of weeks. Oh well.

The card is really self explanatory, Always nice to have a few Just because I Love you cards laying around.

I know that I have not been blogging at my usual pace but I have a couple of really big projects going that are secret for a little while longer and with working full time, which pays for this addiction, I mean hobby, there just aren't always enough hours in the day. Hang in with me and I will let you know about my secret projects just as soon as I can.

See you all tomorrow,

Cathy

I'm Baack!

Hi Everybody:

Christmas is over at the Edgar household and I can get back to business now. Notice that I didn't say normal?!?

I don't want to make another Christmas card for at least 6 months, or see one for that matter. I am so ready to move on with Valentines day and just whatever cute thing I want to do. Tonight I finally made this card that I have had colored for months.

I know that you all remember that this set by Melanie Muenchinger called A Year of Flowers sold at GinaK Designs, is one of my favorite sets and I used the heck out of the poinsetta flower for holiday cards

I colored the rose with my River Rock stamp pad and aquapainter, Yep, I do know how to use other mediums, just always seem to pull out my copic markers. What can I say I love my copic markers!

I punched out the main image with my marvy giga scalloped oval punch and cut out the pink oval behind with my fiskars cutter. I had colored some leaves but they were too green so I went with plan B and stamped onto the same polka dot paper I used to mount the rose image. I had saved this piece of DP to use with this rose when I got it colored because it matched so perfectly. I found this piece of rose dp that I thought would coordinate nicely with the river rock polka dot. I didn't really like it, it was too plain until I decided to add the pink which is the back side of the river rock polka dot. I punched photo corners with my SU photo corner punch and put them behind the corners of the main image.

The pink ribbon was some that I dyed and the ribbon slide was from a bulk order from when I was a SU demo. I tend to hoard these little slides but sometimes they are just the accent that I am looking for so I do use them.

This isn't the monochromatic card that I had planned but I think it turned out pretty.

I have to get busy and get my Christmas Thank You cards made and sent this week. I have been working on them. I am using the My Cuppa Joe set from GinaK Designs (which I am sad to say is the last GinaK set that I have been able to get and I won that one from a challenge drawing). I know that there will be a new release and last month was the first month for quite a while that I couldn't buy any stamps. If I don't get any other stamps I have to get the butterflies but it was the free set if you bought 3 sets and I just have to wait until it is available for sale.

I hope that you are all as happy to see some new cards as I am to be making them. I am glad to be back to my mundane life of work by day and stamp by night. It's not cheap but still cheaper than therapy.

See you tomorrow. Goodnight

Another My Cuppa Joe Cards

In case you can't tell I really like this stamp set from GinaK Designs. I can think of about 100 people that I could send a card made with this set to. But as my kids say, I only make cards I don't give them away. Sad but true!!! Here is my latest card anyway :)

For some reason this image appears to be blurry, The photo I saved wasn't blurry, maybe it is my tired eyes.

I stamped the images from My Cuppa Joe on white cardstock and colored with copic markers. I got the coffee bag a little darker than I had planned but I think it is okay. I really wanted to use this background paper so had to leave my back layer a little larger than usual.

I colord the flowers in coral and brown to match the image and paper. I sponged around the main image with Adirondak Distress Ink, added a tiny coral ribbon on a clip on the left side and a large square brad at the bottom for balance.

All of the layers are mounted on River Rock, one of my all time favorite Stampin Up cardstock colors when I want a neutral color.

I love the font on all of the GinaK Design stamp sets. They are so fine and clear IRL but this photo makes it look hard to read. Must be the photographer........oops that would be me :)

Okay, I know that I am a perfectionist to a fault but I think this card needs something else on the right hand side in the middle of the card. Will have to look at it more tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

Have a great night, or tomorrow as most people I know are already in bed. Thanks for stopping by.

More My Cuppa Joe

I think this is such a cute versatile set. Here is another card using my "free" stamp set from GinaK Designs. There are so many little coffee cups and sayins in this set I just love it. Almost as much as I love coffee!

I am trying to decide on my design for my girls coffee note card sets for Christmas. I think I like this one. I stamped the coffee cups randomly on my white cardstock. I then stamped the main sentiment in the middle. I stamped coffee all over the background. I stamped Friend on the cappacino cup in the lower left corner and coffee on the blue cup upper left.

I colored all of the cups with copic markers and the airbrushed around all of the cups with the same color used for the coloring.

I think I like the simplicity of this because I have 3 daughters so that would be 12 cards to make with coordinating envelopes. I thought about putting some ribbon on it but couldn't figure out where it would go without covering something up.

Well, I have procrastinated long enough. I have to start cleaning my house and do some laundry.

See you tomorrow.

Coffee Anyone?

Anyone who knows me knows that I love coffee. Gina K Designs introduced this new set in her November Release Party and of course I had to have it.

I didn't really have the money to buy any sets during the release party so I decided to do the challenges that they always have during the release party. The prize for being the random drawing winner from the entries is a stamp set of your choice. The only way I was going to get one right now, so I got busy and made something for each challenge.

A while back I posted the three challenge creations. I never win anything but it is still fun and I did some techniques on the cards and scrapbook page that I had never done before, so it is a learning process as well. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Long story short, I actually won Melanie Muenchinger's challenge drawing. We were to use as many different GinaK Design stamps as we wanted on one card. I used 5 stamps from 4 different sets. Sorry, I am rambling, I won the challenge and decided that my free set would be the My Cuppa Joe set and then in a couple of weeks I will order the To a Tee sayings because I need them to go with my Just so Sporty set.

Back to the card way up at the top. I stamped the cup, circle and cupcakes on the plate on white cardstock and colored them using the Copic Gradiant technique in blue and lavendar. I cut each image out and glued them to a white card stock base. I wanted a little more color so I used a left over edge of a lavendar top note die panel and cut each end about an inch wide. I then glued the two ends together. I tied a piece of grosgrain ribbon over the top of that. I had dyed the ribbon a while back.

I popped the You're Cool Beans circle up on a piece of mounting foam and my card was done. Took me longer to write about it than to make it.

My family are all coffee drinkers so I think that I am going to make coffee note cards for Christmas gifts.

I have to get busy now and clean my house. I am having 16 people here for Thanksgiving and I have to work through Wednesday night so I only have my evenings to get stuff done.

Hope you all have a great week and I will post again tomorrow.
