Yea Me!!! I figured out Cricut Cartridge layering LOL

Some of my blogging friends, (Shirley) know that I have been struggling with figuring out the layering on the Cricut cartridges the past week.  I wanted to use the darling little dancers to make paper dolls for my granddaughters.  I don't usually have problems figuring out software and programs so  relieved it finally hit me like a ton of bricks!!! Here is my first sample:

Since this is only my sample to see if I could figure it our finally, the little dancer is only 3 1/2 inches tall.  I want to make them out of cling vinyl so the girls will have an easier time putting the clothes on. My kids had something similar growing up and they all loved to play with them.  I plan to make them about 5 inches tall but like I said this is just my sample.

I really wasn't as stupid as I felt because the Cricut lite cartridges don't show the layer image on the keyboard mat but when you  push the layer button it appears on the preview screen....duh moment.  The shift key brings up the image that is grey in the upper right corner but not the layer...why did I think I should see everything.  Glad I finally tried it.

I plan to add more dresses, pants, shirts, hair accessories, flowers, a house, trees and maybe a cat and dog.  Don't you think they will like them. .  I'll show you the finished project when I get it done.

Well, I have to get ready to go to work but just wanted to show you my ah ha moment.

Hope your Thanksgiving was fun, mine was and I am slowly recovering from all the fun!!!

Cathy - so happy you 'GOT IT'!!
Oh for sure your grandchildren are going to LOVE these dolls!! I remember playing with paper dolls for hours and hours. Just this summer I made some paper ones for my Granddaughter and she is in love with them :o)
I think using vinyl is a perfect idea. I once made some for a DT I was part of and made them all out of magnetic paper and that was really cool!!
Have a blast making them and don't forget to show them to us when you have the rest of the outfits, trees, cat and dog made!!
Big hugs, Candy

Oh Cathy, this is a fabulous idea. My kids had so many hours of fun playing with those. I think they called them "Cling Ons" but I can't remember for sure. They even made them for little boys with boy cartoon figures. Great idea and if they will be traveling, they are perfect to play with in the car too.

Cathy, I remember the clingy paperdolls, so these will be a big hit and 5" is the perfect size. I think the User Handbook explains how you get the design you want. Probably one of the reasons I don't use the carts much, but this is wonderful.
