Happy Birthday---Sassy Cheryl's Challenge

Are you all ready for another great Sassy Cheryl's Challenge?!?  This week the awesomely talented Judy has chosen the theme, Make a Birthday Card for anyone...Now that is a great challenge AND I needed a birthday card for my sister...added bonus!!

Still going with the blue theme since the card is for my sister, Peg, who has a birthday on September 1, and her favorite color is blue.  The image is called Serving up Birthday Cake and I flipped it when I printed it so it was facing the opposite direction, That is harder to do with a rubber stamp LOL.
The image was colored with copic markers, the border at the bottom was cut with my cricut and the holes that were punched are the red circles used to embellish the corners, no reason to throw them away :)  The blue cs was punched with a MS border punch and the flowers in the lower right are cricut flowers layered.
A wide red/white striped ribbon  and red corner punch and my no calorie Birthday card is ready to send wtih the book mark I showed a couple of days ago.  Hope she likes them :)

We are all so happy that our Sassy Cheryl faired pretty well in the Hurricane that just pummuled the east coast and affected many of our DT members and friends. They just got their power back on tonight so not sure if there are any new images this week but I am sure you understand if there are not.

There will be some wonderful DT cards for you to see over at the Challenge Blog and someone will have won a gift Certificate, as a $5 gift certificate is given each week so be sure to grab an image and play along, .I am sure you know someone to make a Birthday card for.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day!!!

Just Inklined Rose Bookmark

I wanted to make a little something special for my sister's birthday.  Peg is a librarian so I thought it would be fun to make her a fun bookmark I have been seeing so many of lately and thought the pretty Rose from Just Inklined would be perfect for this project.  What do you think?

I know you may have never seen a blue rose but blue is Peg's favorite color so had to color it blue,..The Rose was colored with copic markers and then cut out...yep every single itty bitty leaf and stem. except the very center which I was able to color in with a copic to match the cs. So don't look too close LOL.
The book mark template or tutorial was from the Splitcoast Stampers website and so easy to follow, the project only took about 10 minutes after I colored and cut out the flower.  I know I am going to be making a lot more of these. To give you an idea of the size the base card stock piece began as a 4X4 inch piece.

I added a strip of lace and a narrow ribbon and bow which I glued on to insure it would not fall off.  A band of pearls which I also glued on and then I stamped a cracked paint background stamp to go under the rose.  I love the vintage look it gives or just to add some detail without getting too busy.  Because it is a book mark I didn't want to add flowers or anything that would get too thick since it would be on the inside of a book, hopefully she will use it LOL.

Thanks for stopping by, and for those of my friends and followers who are on the east coast of the US please stay safe as Hurricane Irene bears down on you, and to everyone else, have a great week-end.

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--Back to School

It's time for another Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge and Debbie has another wonderful challenge for us this week..  Back to School.  I was so excited I get to use this darling little cutie called To School

This little cutie could have been any one of my three girls going to school as they were all blonde at that age.  I might have  french braided their hair LOL.    The image was colored with copic markers, sponged with distressed ink and then, I brought up my sewing machine, all the way from under the desk...I should do it more often as I really love the look of stitches on the card but can we say lazy....
I thought the checked dp was perfect for this little school girl and used the same piece for the fan flower.  The little school bus in the upper left corner was cut from a cricut cartridge as I just through it was the perfect embellishment and I could make it the size I wanted.  I didn't have the right color card stock so I used a copic marker to over color the bus after I had it assembled with the black accent pieces.
If you have little ones and are looking for a perfect little image to use for a picture frame or scrapbook page these are the perfect images and they come in boy and girl images with straight and curly hair. Mo always thinks of everyone!!! While you are in the Store be sure to look at all the new images Mo has been creating, the houses and Come Hither and Hocus are amazing!!!
Be sure to stop by the Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the DT creations, I know you will love them, grab an image and play along, we love to see your creations and someone will win a gift certificate for a free image or two.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge--Lavendar, White and Green

Good Morning and welcome to the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge. The wonderfully talented Judy is the hostess this week and her challenge for us this week is to use Lavender, white and green.  Sounds like fun, huh.  Here is what I created using Cheer Up:

This little pouty cutie was colored with copic markers , cut out with a spellbinder die, and airbrushed with green while still in the die.  I mounted it on mounting foam squares to give it a little dimension on the purple and green dp.  The dp was from a K & Company paper matte pack. I am always short on purple dp, as it is not my favorite color :). I punched a coordinating border punch for the right side to add a fancy touch for the bow to divide the green cs and main purple dp base color.

I tried a new hair color today, what do you think.  I think I get in a rut with red and blonde.....

A trio of green brads and a medium green button and my Lavender, white and green card is complete.  This is a super easy challenge so be sure to grab a Sassy image and play along.  There is always a drawing for a 5.00 gift certificate and Sassy Cheryl always has new images for you to see and I am sure she will have a new one for us this week too.

Sassy Cheryl's is also running a Labor Day Sale with  20% off  all images, so be sure to grab all the images you have had on your wish list now!!!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop by the Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the DT has to show you I know it will be spectacular!!1

This was hard--my card for Cole

Cheryl of Sassy Cheryl put out a request for all who wanted to send a card to one of her son's LaCross team mate's who was paralyzed in a terrible swimming accident last week.  It is hard enough to know what kind of card to send to someone you know, but for a teen you don't know who has just suffered such a horrific tragic accident, I was stumped for a few days... but finally came up with this image...I hope I chose well.

It is kind of a Sassy image, it is from a Lung 4 U fund raiser a few months ago and thought the image and sentiment were appropriate for the rehab Cole has in store for him.

Just thought I would  post a quick picture of the card. It seems funny to actually make a complete card as I usually just make card fronts.  I love to color but don't really do anything with my creations after I make them...maybe when I retire...LOL

Catch you all later.

Something New for me--Art Canvas!!!

My friend Barbara from Sassy Cheryl's and Mo's Digital Pencil Paper Craft sites created a beautiful art canvas last week (maybe two weeks now) and I thought I might like to try it one of these days.  After I got back from my trip to Tennessee for my son's wedding I was looking through a decorating catalog and there were some tin tiles that were very similar to her art canvas so I went to Michael's and they had some 12X 12 canvas on sale so here is what I created.

The canvas is 12X 12 and I plan to make a set of 3 different ones for my entry stairs.  Because I am a lazy artist I used Tim Holtz masks and my copic Airbrush system for the basic background.
The flowers were cut out with my cricut from the Home Accents cartridge and used as a mask,  The letters are a Tim Holtz mask.  The scroll in the upper right corner is also a Tim Holtz mask.  I airbrushed in E33 and E35 for the browns. I used BG53 and BG 72 for the teals.
When I had those the way I wanted them  I went over the lower corners with Ranger crackle paint in brown, and to soften the brown, closer to the lettering, I used the white ranger crackle paint which I swiped on with a dry wet wipe.
I added a large chip board butterfly, which had been run through my cuttlebug with a dotted swiss folde,r and painted with the white crackle paint.
A strand of faux pearls was added to simulate the flight of the butterfly and a heart hangs from the strand center.  The strand originates from the flower in the lower right which was created with flowers cut with the cricut and shaped around pencils and tweezers to shape the petals.  The final touch was a beaded hat pin for the butterfly body.
Thanks for the inspiration Barbara, this was a really fun project and something I really enjoy doing and don't do often enough :)

Don't know why the rust of the flower shows up so red it really isn't as bright but photography is rather deceptive sometimes especially when done in the middle of the night.

Hope you enjoyed my project and if you want to see a pretty project stop by Barbara's blog and check out her project which inspired me.

Thanks for stopping by.

I'm Back from Tennessee !!! Just Inklined Terraced Houses

I just got back from Tennessee and thought I was going to have time to post this picture of a fabulous Just Inkined image I colored before my trip  for my son's wedding.  No Time for posting on the trip but at least I have a post ready for my first night back...added bonus for me lol.

The Just Inklined Illustrators put so much details into the images they produce I love to color them as I can color them so they look like a photograph, a water color or just about any other art form I want.  They look good enough to frame  and I love to frame them with mattes so they look good enough to frame.
I chose greens and browns and airbrushed in sponged in the clouds.  The bakers twine in green and white seemed like a perfect ribbon for the  gnostalgic feel I thought the image called for.

Be sure to check out all the different images in the Country and Garden line up at the LePashe site.

It has been a long week and I am ready for a little down time so enjoy the image and be sure to drop by the blog and see what the other Design Team members have been showing lately.

Thanks for stopping by.

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--Anything but a Card!!

It's Thursday and that means another fun Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge. Our hostess this week is the super talented Debbie who has chosen the theme, Anything but a card.  One of my favorite challenges LOL.. really it is :)  I love to make things...

I didn't really alter this Photo album but created it with my Bind it All. The first I have created from scratch.  This wonderful Mummu image is called:  Mummu in Summer.  I love the Mummu images, they have always been my favorites, or at least, what made me take notice of the Mo images in the beginning. Every image I see of Mo's is my new favorite but Mummu and Late will always be my two all time favorites.  The image was colored with copics and sponged with distressed inks.
The dp I chose represented the vintage feel I was going for with the image and embellishments.  The lace and journaling ticket.  A single gold button and hand tied bow.  A tattered hand made paper flower in the upper right corner and the cuttlebug letters on the lower edge give the vintage feel I was trying to achieve. The ribbons in coordinating colors just help hide the bind it all wires LOL.

Be sure to stop by the Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the DT creations and be sure to stop Mo's Digital Pencil Blog  and see the newest images  Mo has been creating, she has really been a busy illustrator and has created some new images that are sure on my wish list.  hint elves one and two are available.....

By the time you check out my blog I will be on a plane to my son's wedding so if I don't get to your blog for a day or two or three, that is the reason.  Love you all and see you when I get back.

Hugs,

Cathy

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge--What's Buggin' You?

So excited it is Tuesday, That means it is time for Sassy Cheryl's Challenge and Jeni has another super fun challenge...What's Buggin' You...well for me it would be ladybugs LOL:

This darling bear image is to remain nameless since I could not find him on the new Sassy Cheryl's Digi Site and as soon as Cheryl see's my dilema she will let me know the link and I will correct  that. Sorry.  Colored with copic markers and pounced with a copic blender pen to give the texture of fur.  Don't you love the technical coloring terminology :)
The Bear image was cut out with a scalloped spellbinder die and mounted on a lace doilie, which was mounted on the next larger scalloped circle spellbinder die.

I thought you might like to see some new dp so I dug out my long hoarded SU dp and found a really pretty flowered piece I liked, mounted the circles. added a punched fence at the bottom.  A SU ribbon in red with white edging was strung across the fence and a hand tied bow was added.  A cute ladybug button which originally started out in lavender and clue was transformed to match the color scheme with copics and my favorite sentiment from my SU days was used.
The Sentiment was the one I used for my calling card match book covers...I thought it was perfect.  Bug me Anytime.....and that little ladybug is just too cute and goes so perfect with the Sassy bear.  I punched the tag with a tag punch...original I know and mounted with a gem brad in red.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT cards and see what is buggin them this week,  I know it will be worth the trip over.  I know everyone is busy getting kids ready to go back to school but try to take a few minutes and play along with this fun challenge.  I am sure there will be something buggin you this week that Sassy Cheryl will have the perfect image to cover LOL.

I am leaving on Thurs to go to Tennessee to my son's wedding.  It is going to be such a wonderful time and I am looking forward to a nice vacation and wonderful time with friends and family.

As much as I love you all this week my family is going to come first.  See you in two weeks

Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge--Easel Card with a Bird/Animal

It's Thursday and that means it is time for the Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge.  The super talented Debbie has chosen for us to create an easel card and include a bird or animal.  Mo has so many beautiful images that include animals but I included my animal in a little different way.  Imagine that. me be different LOL :

I love the On the Pot kids and had to figure out a way to use one for this challenge so decided this little cutie would be talking to the bird. It fits the challenge so it works,...right.   That's my story... Work with me here!!!  This little cutie  was colored with copic markers and sponged with distressed ink and mounted on pink and black cs.  The pink was left longer so I could add the black band and pink velvet rick rack.
The black and white plaid dp is digi dp from Jak Heath, she has some awesome dp on her website.
The roses were hand made and the sentiment, which I couldn't resist for this image, was computer generated and punched with SU punches.
Funny thing about my card.  I knew the image I wanted to use, had it all colored, knew it had to have a bird or animal, made the card, photographed it, and added it to the group file just in time before I had to go to work and Oh Crap...(pun intended)...I forgot the easel part.  Sent email I would fix the card and repost my picture that night so this is the-- fits the challenge card :)
Be sure to stop by to see what the rest of the DT has, they have created some awesome Easel cards...WOW....Also be sure to stop by the store.  Mo has been super busy creating new images since she got her book done ...Yeah MO!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have  a great day.

Hugs,

Just Inklined Blog Hop--Check it Out!!

Welcome to the August Blog Hop for Just Inklined.  The theme this month is to have something checked on your card or project as chosen by our super talented hostess Karen.  If you have arrived here from Karen's blog you are in the right spot.

Here is my project using the Beautiful Magnolia image available on LaPashe website:

I have always loved checked cards, ribbons, and just about anything checked so this was a fun challenge for me.  I colored the Magnolias with copic markers and airbrushed the background with copic markers as well.  I mounted the layers multiple times.

A trio of handmade paper roses and leaf sprigs in the lower left corner a gold shoe in the upper right gold accent beads in the corners and at the base of the flower buds.  I love to use a strand of faux pearls as if to symbalize having been tossed onto the card at the end of a memorable evening and have remained through time!!!

The next stop along the hop is the super talented Heidy.  Be sure to Check Out ( I couldn't resist) the wonderful Just Inklined image she has used for her project.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
