Don't be Square--Sassy Cheryl's Challenge

Tuesday is Sassy Cheryl's Challenge day and our Hostess this week is my dear friend,  Sassy Pat.  The theme this week is Don't be Square which means, don't create a square card...what fun!

I created this fun circle card using my cricut machine and the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 cart.  isn't it awesome.  I colored the sweet Sassy Sally's Big Cupcake with copic markers and added some punched dots to the cup cake for special treats for her special cupcake :).

I added the sheer white ribbon at the top and the HB in letter blocks, I tried to use scrabble tiles but they were too big, darn it, but these are cute too.

I have a photo of the side view, yeah I took multiple photos, it happens...

I used the same dp and cut out the lettering for the sentiment on the inside of the card since I didn't have room on the outside for my sentiment except for the tiles.

Be sure to stop by the Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the DT has created for you to see and then create a card that isn't square.  Sassy Cheryl gives away two images to the winner of the challenge drawing and it might as well be you, but you can't win if you don't enter your card :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day!!!

Cathy

Card details for cricut expression users.  The card dial size was 4.5 and the inside phrase size was 1.5  my settings are 4 for  speed   4 for pressure   4.5 for blade green housing ( I seldom change this setting)

Happy Mother's Day to All Mothers

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day.  It is a special day for so many of us who have enjoyed the trials and tribulations of raising our children young and old.  Always with a Hope and a Prayer that we have done all we can to give them the best life we could...

I was very excited today to get this wonderful framed picture from my children and grandchildren as a Mother's Day present, each one of my grandchildren held a posterboard square to be photographed and then they emailed the photos to my youngest daughter who put this wonderful collage picture together.  Isn't it just precious.

I tried about 10 times to get rid of the glare and this is the best I could do.  I turned off all the lights in the room and no flash on the camera but still got this one spot I could not get rid of.  You can see how adorable this is,  I love it.

My spare bedroom is all done in black and white family photos and the bedspread is black and white,  has a black and white rug, black and white curtain and black  floating shelves, it is  the only room I have actually decorated and I really love it.  This photo will go over the bed.  Isn't it awesome.

Thanks kids. Love it.  Now to talk Dad into the River boat trip!! LOL.

Hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day and I for one have to go to work Sunday night but will enjoy the day until then :)

Thanks for stopping by and do something crafty today.

Sew Sassy Challenge

Are you ready for another great Sassy Cheryl's Challenge!!! Our super talented hostess this week is Ms. Judy, who chose the theme Stitching, real or faux. I love to sew on my cards,  sew(couldn't resist ) Here is Callie's Graduation Celebration all stitched up!! :

I thought my graduates would love this image and from my 4 year old pre school graduate Bailey; to my 18 year old graduate, Ashlee;  to her mother, Nichole, (my oldest)  who is earning her Bachelor's degree in Accounting the same day...isn't that awesome.  Congratulations to you all!!!!!  They are all blonde so it fits them all,  and as their mother and grandmother I couldn't be prouder.

I colored Callie with copic markers and added a trio of dots to add a little interest to her gown.  I mounted the layers together but when I am going to sew them, I only tape in the middle, so I don't gum up my sewing machine needle.

I sewed the bottom layer with a straight stitch, the middle layer with a zig zag stitch and the image I did a free style stitch just by moving the image through the machine freely...my favorite.

I accented the image with 3 beautiful hand made rolled roses sponged with pink ink and tied the card with green and white checked gingham ribbon.  I thought the sentiment was perfect for a graduate going out into the world.

Be sure you stop by the Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT sewed up for you.  I am sure that Sassy Cheryl has something new cooked up for you too!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have I mentioned how good it feels to be back creating Sassy Cheryl's cards again.

Have a wonderful creative day.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge--May flowers

Yeah, Tuesday means time for Sassy Cheryl's Challenge, and to continue the Spring Theme Jeni, our hostess this week, continues with May Flowers for the theme.  I chose the adorable Sassy Sally Flowers
I think that Sassy Sally looks so cute sitting on this toad stool holding her potted plants, which represent my May Flowers.  The image was colored with copic markers and then cut out with a Spellbinder die and airbrushed while still in the die.

In keeping with the polka dot theme I mounted the main image on craft which I popped up on foam on the green and brown dp,

The green and white bakers twine was wrapped around the center layer and tied in a bow.  I added a orange bracket in the upper left corner which started out gold and I airbrushed orange to match the card theme.  In the lower left corner I added an orange and white checked ribbon tab for interest.  Two green butterflies in the upper right corner help add to the Spring theme and I just like butterflies.  That's my story and I'm stickin to it....

Be sure to stop by the Challenge blog and see what the other DT members have created for you to drool over....then run to the store as Sassy Cheryl has created the cutest new images that are just PERFECT for this challenge....and they are just darn cute besides!!!Once you have created your card or project be sure to enter it in the Challenge for a chance to win a Sassy Image or two...

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day.

Antique Button Bracelet

My daughter saw a button bracelet on Pintrest and I thought I would give it a try.  What do you think?

The buttons are from my grandfather's antique button collection and I strung them on some red and white bakers twine. I chose to use all red buttons as I thought I would wear a red bracelet as I am not much of a bracelet person as they seem to dangle and get in the way of my computer work.

The source of the bracelet idea is Hope Studios and she gives a complete pictorial tutorial of how she created hers.  Very easy to follow and to fit my wrist I loop it over the next to the last button to fit more snugly and is really cute and funky.   I think the next one I make will have the buttons all overlapping, I'll show it to you when I get it done, It will be in silver buttons.

Hope you liked my little diversion from cards and hope you are having a great week-end.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs,
Cathy

I'm Back!!! Sassy Cheryl's Challenge April Showers

It's Tuesday and that means it is time for another fantastic Sassy Cheryl's Challange and the hostess this week is the super talented, Jeni, who chose the theme April Showers.  I had a few issues finding an  image but in my fun loving style I chose the Little Land Swimmers:

I colored the image with copic markers and added glossy accents to the puddle and raindrops.

I sponged around the outside edge with distress ink and mounted it on SU cs.  The added embellishments are a MS punched fence a orange and white checked gingham ribbon with hand tied bow airbrushed to match the distressed the border.  A trio of dew drops adorns the upper right hand corner,

I want you to know that after nearly 2 months of not being able to color,  create a card, or post to my blog it feels SOOOOOO good to be back.  Thanks to all my bloggy friends for not deserting me in my absense and to the best Sassy Boss Lady Cheryl for hanging in there with me through it all and waiting for my return.  Gotta love that gal, even if she picks on me something terrible LOL.

I know for a fact that Cheryl has been working on some adorable new images that will be perfect for this challenge so I think I am going to get over to the store to check them out.
Be sure you stop by the Challenge Blog and check out the rest of the DT creations and remember when you enter the challenge you can only enter once and it doesn't have to be a Sassy Cheryl's image but they are so darn cute why wouldn't you ?!?

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful creative day.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge--Think Green

Hello, Sassy friends, seems like forever since I have gotten to play in a Sassy Cheryl's Challenge but here is my card for the Think Green Challenge and the hostess is my special friend Peggy!!!

Precious Callie,  was colored with copic markers and sponged with distressed ink.  The image was mounted  on some green striped dp from my stash and embellished the edge with some white lace and green and white bakers twine onto which I tied a green button.
I added a sentiment and  attached the tag with a green glittery brad.

I punched a lady bug in the upper right corner of the main image and I left it white just to add a "bug" but not add any color to it to detract from the color scheme.

Be sure to stop by the Challenge Blog and see what the rest of the DT has created for the Green Challenge and also see what Sassy Cheryl might have created for you...
Thanks for stopping by and for not giving up on me in my absense :)

I may be a little slow on getting back in the swing of things,, this is the first card I have created in over a month...slow and steady one day at a time :)

Have a wonderful creative day.
