Something Different for Me

I'm not usually drawn to birds, but I have always wanted these bird stamps by Martha Stewart. When I was at my local Michael's over the week-end these were in their clearance bin. I picked them up carried them around, put them back, and picked them up again. I'm bad!

I colored this pretty bird kind of like the yellow finch that is the Iowa State Bird. What can I say, I was born and raised in Iowa and now I live in Omaha.

I have been practicing the sponging technique that is demonstrated by Tim Holtz on the Ranger Technique videos and I think I am doing okay, I like the results . The sentiment is from the Morning Glory stamp set by Stampin Up. The scalloped punch is my giga Marvy scalloped oval. I also have the plain oval but it is a bit larger than the scalloped so I had to trim it down by hand.

The main image is stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black ink, which is the only ink I use when I am going to color with copic markers. So basically, it is the only black ink I use :)

My main image is mounted on a river rock piece of cardstock, that is mounted on a weathered beige cardstock and that is mounted on Always Artichoke. All of the edges are sponged with Tim Holtz Distress Vintage Photo Ink.

My rose and beige striped background paper is from Michaels and I also sponged the edges a little with the Distress Vintage Photo ink. I mounted the striped paper on river rock and then Always Artichoke as well.

I wanted this to be kind of a feminine card so I added the sheer white ribbon and added the white half pearls from K & Company.
